Who We Are

Be a Volunteer of Our Community

Known across the country and the world for the amazing work we do. Our mission is to reach out to the less privileged members of the society in Africa who have no access to proper medical care by administration of medical camps and other health programs. Be a volunteer and make a difference!

1. Our Purpose
Health Focus Africa’s mission is to reach out to the less privileged members of African society who do not have access to proper healthcare through the administration of medical camps and other health programs.
2. Why should you put your money in our hands?
Health Focus Africa has now held two medical camps in Kenya, benefiting thousands of underprivileged members of society. We keep accurate records of all our receipts and disbursements, and our financial statements are audited, filed with the government, and open to the public. We also have a board of directors with over 50 years of combined experience in the non-profit sector, including two practicing Medical Doctors who volunteer their expertise to the organization.

3. What do we have to offer our donors?
We maintain close contact with our donors and promise to provide regular updates on each medical camp that we host. Among the information that is shared with our donors is the number of people who attended, those treated and discharged, those referred for follow-up visits, and how many are diagnosed with special cases needing additional funding and specialized treatment. We also share Key Performance Indicators to report on the success of each medical camp. Health Focus Africa stays in contact with each camp attendee that received treatment to access the success of the medical camp. Overall, more than 90% of the follow-ups have returned good meaning those that were treated reported that they had recovered from the ailments that they were treated, and those that were referred followed through as directed.

4. What has Health Focus Africa accomplished to date?
In Kenya’s remote communities, Health Focus Africa has treated countless patients. We do think that treating one person prevents the transmission of infectious illnesses to other family members and the general public; hence, treating 1000 people prevents the infection or illness of at least 10,000 people. The total effect is significant and protects not just the patient but also other family members and the community as a whole.

5.  How have we positively impacted the lives of those we serve? Here is one among the many lives we have impacted.

Seporah Nyangau had given up hope and was living with cervical cancer when Health Focus Africa discovered her via the November 27th, 2022 Medical Camp at Mwancha, Kisii, Kenya. By then, her cancer had advanced to stage-3 and spread beyond the Uterus. Seporah could not afford transportation costs to the nearest district hospital to seek treatment. The cost of transportation was less than one dollar. Health Focus African was able to sponsor Seporah for her to do a follow and treatment. She is currently receiving the necessary medical care. People like Saporah are the reason why we are motivated to provide free medical services to save lives. Your support is key to enabling us fulfill our mission.

6. What are our goals this year?
Currently, we are conducting a campaign to fund our 2023 budget. Some of the services that will be offered at each medical camp are:
1. Free cervical and breast screening/examination
2. Prostate cancer screening
3. Random sugar test
4. Blood pressure (BP)
5. Oxygen concentration (SPO2)
6. Consultation services for general diagnosis
7. Provide medicines
8. Providing referrals where necessary.

7. Why are our goals important?
If we meet this goal three thousand people will receive free medical treatment in rural Kenya. By meeting this goal, we will combat diseases and hence save the larger population from the spread of these infectious diseases. We will also save lives by intervening and treatment of diseases before they escalate to major pandemics.
8. What would happen if we are not able to accomplish our goal?
If we do not meet these goals lives can not be saved. Those poor people that might be suffering from life-threatening diseases will go untreated. Diseases will continue spreading which might spread into pandemics if they go unattended.
9. How much money do we need from donors to accomplish our goals?
Health Focus Africa is conducting a fundraising campaign to fund 2023 medical camps. Your support is Key to helping the African communities and in fulfillment of our mission of reaching out to the less privileged members of society in Africa who have no access to proper medical attention by administration of medical camps and other health programs. Would you like to join us by donating? With a gift of $1000, one hundred people can receive free treatment and medication.
Donating $500 will enable 50 underprivileged people in Africa to receive free treatment and medication but every dollar you give towards our 2023 fundraising campaign takes us one step closer to our goal of funding our 2023 medical camps. This will  bring medical attention closer to 4000 people. Please help us save lives by getting involved.

10. How can donors help other than making financial contributions?

We are also accepting donations of blood pressure machines, and diabetes kits including strips and pulse oximeters. In addition, we accept donations of medication and personal protective equipment (PPE), gloves, etc. Volunteer medical personnel are also welcome.
